Phillies Notebook: Bring on Florida State

In what has become a yearly rite of passage, the Phillies will host Florida State Wednesday at Bright House Field in Clearwater, Fla. for their first taste of live baseball.

Right-hander Austin Hyatt will get the start for the Phils. Chase Utley, Placido Polanco, Ryan Howard and Carlos Ruiz will all sit this one out. Skipper Charlie Manuel has stated that the team will be cautious with injured and rehabbing regulars.

The starting lineup will look something like this:

1. Jimmy Rollins, SS

2. Juan Pierre, DH

3. Shane Victorino, CF

4. Hunter Pence, RF

5. Ty Wigginton, 3B

6. Domonic Brown, LF

7. John Mayberry Jr., 1B

8. Michael Martinez, 2B

9. Tuffy Gosewisch, C

UPDATING HOWARD … Ryan Howard did see a foot and ankle specialist, as scheduled, in Baltimore on Monday. The Phillies aren’t planning to update his status until Wednesday.
