Philly AIDS Thrift recently announced plans to award $300,035 to organizations and programs focused on HIV prevention and care, as well as support for people living with HIV/AIDS in the Delaware Valley.

The newly announced grants brings the thrift store’s tally to $3,691,813 over the past 16 years. The money is distributed in an effort to support Philadelphia regional organizations on the frontline of the HIV/AIDS crisis. The annual grant program by Philly AIDS Thrift started in 2014 as another way to serve the community, and it has continued during the Covid crisis.

“The staff, volunteers, and board at Philly AIDS Thrift could not be more honored to surpass our previous high, in dollars granted in a single RFP & our overall total of $3.6 million dollars granted. Especially at this moment when these incredible organizations, doing amazing work are being challenged by the Covid-19 pandemic. We are so grateful,” said Philly AIDS Thrift Board President, Michael Bryne, in a statement.

“It is amazing to all of us that we have surpassed the milestone of giving away over $3.6 million dollars since our inception,” added PAT Co-founder/Manager Christina Kallas-Saritsoglou. “We could not do it without our generous donors and enthusiastic shoppers.
