Philly city employee indicted on child porn charges

A former health and human services program manager at the Philadelphia Office of Emergency Management is under electronic monitoring at his home after he was indicted on child pornography charges this week.

Grant Shea, 29, of South Philadelphia, faces one count each of receipt of child pornography, distribution of child pornography and possession of child pornography, according to Philly.com.

Shea is reportedly accused of knowingly owning computers that contained the explicit images, some which “involved the use of minors, including prepubescent minors and minors who had not attained 12 years of age, engaging in sexually explicit conduct.”

Shea’s attorney told Philly.com that his client resigned from his job on Thursday after a grand jury handed down the indictment. He had no further comment.

“Due to personal reasons, Grant Shea has resigned from his position effective immediately,” OEM director Samantha Phillips told staff members in an office email Thursday, according to Philadelphia Magazine. “I cannot discuss this further, but please know that Grant left cordially and will be dearly missed.”

Shea’s next date in court was not immediately available.
