A West Philly police officer is recovering from injuries sustained during a weekend crash.

The officer, an unidentified 45-year-old sergeant with the 19th district, reportedly crashed his cruiser into a telephone pole around 3 a.m. Saturday while responding to another officer’s call, CBS reported.

The crash occurred near Parkside Avenue and Bryn Mawr Avenue in Wynnefield.

The officer reportedly swerved to avoid hitting an animal in the street before crashing.

The officer was treated at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center.

He has been released after being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
