Philly FBI Holds 11th Annual Youth Academy Program Tomorrow

The Philadelphia division of the FBI is holding its 11th annual Youth Academy Program tomorrow and more students have registered this year than for any session in the program’s decade-long history.

The day-long seminar runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the William Green Federal Building, 600 Arch Street,
and is intended to teach area public, private and parochial high school students about the FBI’s crime-fighting role through case and program demonstrations.

Presentations include Weapons of Mass Destruction,
Internet Safety, Illegal Drugs, Foreign Counterintelligence, Civil
Rights, and the FBI’s Evidence Response and SWAT Teams.

Students aged 14 to 18 are selected to participate if they are in good academic standing and have
leadership qualities. About 160 students registered this year.

Opening remarks will be delivered by Special Agent-in-Charge George C. Venizelos.
