Philly woman who drove over pedestrian charged with attempted murder

Police have now charged a woman after she allegedly drove over a pedestrian after threatening her.

On Thursday, May 5, police said Mariandely Miranda drove her 2003 Mazda Protege over a woman walking at the corner of 16th and Vine streets, striking the victim with both passenger-side tires.

Their dispute began when the pedestrian was allegedly almost struck by Miranda’s car as she was walking through the crosswalk at the intersection, police stated. They exchanged words after the near miss.

“B—, if you don’t move, I will move you,” Miranda said before hitting the gas and deliberately driving over the female pedestrian, according to police.

Several witnesses chased the vehicle and took pictures of it and Miranda, according to police. The victim was taken to Hahnemann Hospital for a fractured pelvis, hip and tailbone.

Miranda has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, making terrorist threats and accident involving death, a charged that was added because of the severity of the incident though no one died.
