Philly’s 11th Hour Theatre Company offers virtual memberships

In the wake of the pandemic, many theaters have found a way to bring virtual experiences to audiences around the city, including 11th Hour Theatre Co.

According to a release, from July 18 – Sept. 19, 11th Hour is offering an all-inclusive virtual membership consisting of six incredible events. The Society XI Online membership includes 3 Quarantine Cabarets featuring extraordinary singing duos and 3 Musical Theatre Salons where members will be able to interact live with some favorite Philly artists over Zoom.

The Quarantine Cabarets will take place Saturday, July 25, Saturday, Aug. 8 and Saturday, Sept. 12. The first will feature Steve Pacek and Jesus Garcia, the second in August will feature Bi Jean Ngo and David M. Raine and the third in the early fall will feature Alex Keiper and Michael Doherty. Each cabaret will feature evenings filled with stories and songs showcased by every one of the talented local performers.

Philadelphians can also check out 11th Hour’s Musical Theatre Salons which boast curated and interactive discussions with artists who have worked with and on 11th Hour productions in the past. The Salons will take place Saturday, July 18, Saturday, Aug. 22 and Saturday, Sept. 19, and will feature Rob Tucker, Gina Giachero, Madison Auch, Angela Coleman, Mark Valenzuela, Amanda Jensen, Jenn Rose, Samuel Antonio Reyes and Kathleen Borelli.

The virtual memberships that 11th Hour is offering online is $50 and includes all six performances. As a special bonus as well, when in-person performances are able to resume, what members pay now can be deducted from the cost of a full membership later on. Virtual memberships can be bought online or over the phone at 267-987-9865.

Being an organization whose mission is to produce all musicals, all the time, it makes sense for 11th Hour to provide Philadelphians with this unique membership experience. According to the release, the organization produces a broad spectrum of musicals that fill a niche in the diverse Philadelphia theatre landscape: musicals that spark the creativity of artists and the imaginations of audiences. Over the past 15 seasons, they have produced 17 full-scale musicals, nine of which were Philadelphia premieres. In addition to the World Premiere of their first commission, ‘Field Hockey Hot.’

Most recently, 11th Hour produced a virtual short play from Itoro Bassey titled, ‘Unapologetically Black: Here for Facilitating Harm Reduction for Those In Need Incorporated.’ The show aired on Zoom this past weekend and offered “a great jumping-off point for dialogue about racism and the possibilities of allyship.” The show featured a few notable local artists including Carl Kennedy, Omoze Idehenre, Valeka Jessica and Donnell E. Smith and was co-produced and co-directed by actor, activist, director and creative Kalif Troy.
