More than 140 students from Philadelphia played in the Philly Plays Scrabble — Winter Classic Scrabble Tournament on Wednesday to compete for highest-scoring word, highest all-around score and best attendance, organized by After School Activities Partnership (ASAP).
ASAP is a citywide campaign aimed at creating youth Scrabble clubs in schools, libraries, community centers and more in the Philadelphia area.
More than 80 Scrabble clubs played last year with about 1,200 student involved.
