On Thursday, the second anniversary of former Mayor Michael Nutter signing the law decriminalizingmarijuana possession below 30 gramsin Philadelphia, smokers celebrated with a pop up weed garden in Eakins Oval organized by pro-marijuana legalization activists.
A diverse group of a few hundred people attended to enjoy marijuana and munchies in the park, while a small detachment of police was posted up across the street.
Under decriminalization statutes, possession of up to 30 grams is punishable by a $25 fine, and smoking in public can get a $100 fine.
No word – yet – if there were any arrests or citations.
