Police are investigating the alleged rape of a 12-year-old as she was waiting for her school bus in East Germantown on Monday morning.
The girl reportedly told police that an unknown man wearing a ski mask forced her into a nearby alley and sexually assaulted her.
The victim’s school, Imani Education Circle Charter, released a statement Tuesday saying the administration and staff were “deeply saddened by the report of the assault” and committed to working with law enforcement to bring the suspect to justice.
“Although we have made every precaution necessary to ensure the safety of our students on the grounds of our school and within our school facility, crimes can and do occur outside of any school’s property,” the statement read.
“We have long been a partner to this community and we remain committed to working with our neighbors to all do our part to keep children safe. Our sincerest prayers go out on behalf our student and the family.”
