Investigators released images Wednesday of a car believed to be involved in a shooting that left two teenagers injured right after school dismissal time in North Philadelphia.

The incident occurred just steps from where Temple University Police Officer Christopher Fitzgerald was killed Saturday night, and the gunfire erupted as the college was preparing a campus vigil.

Authorities said a gunman dressed in all black with a black mask got out of a car at around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and opened fire on a group of teenage boys who were walking on the 1900 block of Montgomery Avenue.

One of the boys, a 17-year-old, was struck, and the gunman moved in closer, firing additional shots while the victim was on the ground, Philadelphia Police Captain James Kearney told reporters Wednesday.

He remains hospitalized in serious condition, with gunshot wounds to both legs, according to authorities.

A 13-year-old girl – who was walking with a different group – reported hearing gunshots and running, Kearney said. Her right arm was grazed by a bullet.

The vehicle, which then continued eastbound on Montgomery, is described as a 2012 gray Nissan Maxima with a missing hubcap and a Pennsylvania temporary paper license plate with the number 3901869.

“Somebody’s going to know whose car that is,” Kearney said. “It’s pretty distinctive.”
