Police arrested two men in a Logan home invasion last night after SWAT surrounded the house and a negotiator talked them out.
Officers responded to reports of a home invasion on the 5100 block of North Warnock Street shortly before 9:30 p.m. They made contact with the homeowner inside, who said that he was duct-taped to a chair by two men with guns and asked officers to kick in the door to help him.
The officers complied and saw two masked men on the second floor of the house.
SWAT and a negotiator were dispatched in an attempt to draw the gunmen out. The suspects demanded money and, when they couldn’t find any, ransacked the residence.
They were eventually persuaded to give up and arrested without incident.
The homeowner said that he was attacked when he answered a knock on his door earlier in the night to find the two men. One hit him over the head with a revolver, causing him to black out. When he came to, he was taped to the chair.
The man was taken to Einstein Medical Center and treated for minor head injuries.
The two men arrested have been identified as Ralph Summers, 21, of the 5700 block of North 17th Street and Steve Eads, 22, who stated he was homeless.
