Police released a video Tuesday in an attempt to identify three young men who carjacked and beat a 66-year-old driver early Monday morning in Center City.
The incident occurred at around 12:30 a.m. Monday on the 900 block of Winter Street, near Logan Square, according to authorities.
A man got out of his Lexus SUV to undo a chain leading to his parking spot when the trio, who were wearing black clothing and masks, jumped into his vehicle, investigators said. When the driver resisted, two of the suspects punched and kicked him, police added.
Investigators said the victim ran away and suffered minor scratches. The men also took his cellphone, and authorities said they were last spotted inside the Lexus on the 200 block of N. 10th Street in Chinatown.
Anyone with information about the carjacking is asked to contact the PPD’s Central Detective Division at 215-686-3093/3094; call or text 215-686-8477; or submit a tip at www.phillypolice.com/forms/submit-a-tip.
