A police-involved car accident injured an officer this afternoon in South Philadelphia.
While attempting to stop a car shortly before noon, a police cruiser slammed into a private vehicle at the intersection of 17th Street and Forrestal streets, then struck a parked car.
The officer was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania with neck and back pain and is expected to be treated and released.
The front end of the police car and both private vehicles suffered heavy damage.
There is no word if charges will be filed against either driver.
