Police are looking for a man who allegedly pulled a gun on a pedestrian during a road rage outburst early yesterday morning.
The victim was crossing the intersection of West Passyunk Avenue and South Lambert Street in the Girard Park section of South Philadelphia around 4:45 a.m. when a red, four-door Mitsubishi with no headlights on nearly hit him, investigators said. The man told police that the driver stopped the car and told him to “get the f––k out of the way,” prompting a brief argument.
The driver sped off and pulled into a nearby Citgo gas station at 21st Street and Passyunk Avenue, police said. The victim saw the driver get out of the car armed with a black handgun and immediately took off running, but said he heard at least two gunshots fired as he fled.
The victim hid behind a parked minivan until he saw the suspect drive away and then ran to a 7 Eleven at 23rd Street and Passyunk Avenue, where he dialed 911. Responding officers did not find any shell casings, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
The suspect is described as a stocky white male in his early to mid-30s wearing a light-colored shirt and dark-colored pants.
