A Bristol teenager was arrested for allegedly delivering his own brand of vigilante justice, slashing the tires of 22 illegally-parked cars in four days, police said.
According to Bensalem police, Jason Knapp, 18, was taken into custody yesterday as he attempted to damage yet another vehicle.
Investigators said that as the reports of tire vandalism continued to roll in between Sunday and yesterday, they were able to determine a pattern and began monitoring targeted areas. Within an hour and a half of setting up surveillance, they allegedly caught Knapp in the act.
Police said he subsequently confessed to slashing the tires of 22 cars – most of them in fire and no parking zones – outside seven different residential homes and apartment complexes. Knapp allegedly told them he delivered newspapers and was “upset” with people he observed parking illegally.
Authorities said suburbia’s version of “Taxi Driver” took out his rage by vandalizing those vehicles, causing over $5,000 in damage, according to the car owners.
Knapp was arraigned today and sent to the Bucks County Prison in lieu of posting 10 percent of $50,000 bail. He is charged with felony criminal mischief and related offenses.
