Police searching for man who attacked older woman in Center City

Investigators are asking for the public’s help to identify a man who brazenly attacked a 72-year-old woman in Center City last month.

The incident occurred just before 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 18, on the 700 block of Walnut Street. Police said the suspect, without being provoked, shoved the woman to the ground. She hit her head on the sidewalk and had to be treated for a head injury.

Detectives said the suspect, who was caught on surveillance video released Wednesday carrying a white “Express” bag, may hang out in the area of 7th and Walnut streets and in nearby Washington Square Park.

Anyone with information about the man is asked to contact Central Detectives at 215-686-3093/3094; call or text 215-686-8477; or submit an anonymous tip at www.phillypolice.com/forms/submit-a-tip.
