Police Seek Suspect in Violent Rape

Police are searching for a man who raped a woman at gunpoint in North Philadelphia.

The victim, 20, was walking on the 2200 block of N. Watts Street around 4 a.m. Thursday when a man approached her from behind and forced her at gunpoint to an alleyway behind the 2300 block of N. Park Avenue.

There, he bound her with pieces of clothing and sexually assaulted her. He fled with her purse containing money, a cell phone, identification and credit cards.

Police have released a composite sketch of a man they believe to be involved in the attack, as well as surveillance video that shows the suspect forcing the woman down the street.

The suspect is described as a 5’7″ black man aged 25 to 30 with a medium complexion and thin build.

Police ask anyone with information concerning the crime to call the Special Victims Unit at 215-685-3251 or 215-685-3252.
