North Philadelphia Building Collapses During Hurricane

A North Philadelphia building collapsed early yesterday morning during the hurricane’s heavy rain and wind gusts.

The mixed-use building on the 2600 block of N. 11th Street, which housed a Chinese restaurant with apartments above, collapsed around 1 a.m.

All residents had self-evacuated prior to the collapse. No injuries were reported.

L&I is currently working on a curbside bid to have the property completely demolished.

The exact cause of the collapse is unknown.
