Pope Francis unveils schedule for September visit to U.S.

A schedule released by the Vatican today details Pope Francis’ itinerary for his upcoming journey to the United States.

The schedulefor what the Vatican calls the “2015 Apostolic Journey Of Pope Francis to the United States Of America”details every stop on Francis’ tour of New York, Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia after arriving from Cuba on Sept. 22.

Along with visits to Catholic charities and visits with members of U.S. clergy,Francis will meet with President Obama at the White House at 9:15 a.m. on Sept. 23and address Congress the following morning on Sept. 24.

In New York City on Sept. 25, Francis will address the United Nation andconduct a service at the 9/11 Memorial and Museum before visiting Our Lady Queen of Angels School in East Harlem. He will finish the evening with a mass at Madison Square Garden.

Francis will end the trip with two days in Philadelphiafor the conclusion of the 2015 World Meeting of Families.

He will attend mass at the Cathedral Basilica SS Peter and Paul, visit Independence Mall for what is reportedly an address to the immigrant community and visit the World Meeting of Families festivities to be held on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

On Sunday, Sept. 27, he will visit Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility, a city jail, before beginning the papal mass at 4 p.m. for the conclusion of the World Meeting of Families.

The exact location of Francis’ papal mass has not yet been specified due to security concerns.
