Pregnant woman injured in North Philly double shooting

Seven people, including a pregnant woman, were wounded in shootings Sunday evening and early Monday around Philadelphia.

Shots rang out just before 6:15 p.m. Sunday on the 3500 block of N. 18th Street in the Tioga section of North Philadelphia, striking a 33-year-old pregnant woman in the thigh and a 23-year-old man in the chest and back, authorities said.

Both victims were later listed in critical condition at Temple University Hospital.

District Attorney Larry Krasner told reporters Monday that the shooting was the second involving a pregnant woman in recent days.

On Friday, a 19-year-old woman was shot in the chest and side during a double shooting in broad daylight at 45th and Market streets in West Philadelphia, according to authorities. She was also seriously injured but expected to survive.

There was no information on the status of either pregnancy following the shootings.

Elsewhere, a 16-year-old boy was shot seven times just after 2:45 p.m. Monday on the 1500 block of N. 52nd Street in Overbrook, police said. Officers rushed him to the hospital in critical condition.

Early Monday morning, at around 2 a.m., a 31-year-old man was shot in the back and left leg near the corner of 24th Street and Allegheny Avenue in North Philadelphia, police said. He was hospitalized in critical condition.

A 46-year-old man was also in critical condition following a stabbing Sunday night in Grays Ferry.

Police said officers found the victim at around 11:45 p.m. inside a property on the 1500 block of Patton Street. He was rushed to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center with wounds to his side and stomach.

Someone shot a 14-year-old boy in the left thigh at around 9:30 p.m. Sunday on the 5600 block of Vine Street in West Philadelphia, investigators said.

He is being treated for nonlife-threatening injuries at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, according to authorities.

Meanwhile, in the Norris Square neighborhood, a 23-year-old man was shot once in the lower back at around 9:15 p.m. Sunday on the 100 block of Diamond Street, police said. He was hospitalized in critical condition.

About 15 minutes earlier, in West Philadelphia, a 33-year-old man was rushed to Penn Presbyterian in critical condition after being shot in the stomach on the 700 block of S. 58th Street, authorities said.

Police reported no arrests in the immediate aftermath of the recent shootings.
