Record field at ’10 Philly Marathon

Daniel Vassallo and Mariska Kramer emerged from a record-high racing field yesterday to capture wins at the annual Philadelphia Marathon.

Vassallo, 25, of Wilmington, Mass., completed the 26.2-mile course in 2:21:28 to win the men’s marathon. Kramer, 36, of the Netherlands, took the women’s event in a time of 2:38:55. George Gallego took home top honors in the wheelchair division (2:34:34).

On the whole, a record 23,000 runners competed in the weekend’s three events: the marathon, half marathon and Rothman Institute 8K.
