A man fired a shot Monday morning at a woman underground at the Broad Street Line’s Tasker-Morris Station in South Philadelphia, SEPTA transit police said.

The woman was not injured during the incident, which occurred at around 6 a.m., according to SEPTA.

She was walking on the mezzanine level when the suspect approached her from behind and bumped into her, transit officials said. The victim fought back, and the man fired a single shot in her direction as he ran away from the area, SEPTA spokesperson Andrew Busch said. Investigators believe he fled to street level.

“The gunman was definitely the aggressor,” he told Metro. “As far as we’re able to tell at this point, there weren’t any words exchanged between him and the female victim.”

Police think the suspect may have been attempting to rob her, Busch said.

The shooting was captured on surveillance video. SEPTA released a screenshot showing the man and asked for the public’s help in identifying him. Anyone with information is asked to call transit police at 215-580-8111.
