Seven people were injured in separate shootings Sunday in Philadelphia, including two men were hospitalized following an attempted robbery in Juniata.
Three men dressed in black clothes and ski masks shot the pair after confronting them at around 7:30 p.m. on the 1600 block of Lewis Street, investigators said.
Officers at the scene found a 39-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his hand and a 33-year-old man who had been shot in the foot. Both were transported to Temple University Hospital, where they are in stable condition, police said.
A 26-year-old woman was rushed to the hospital after shots rang out at around 8:15 p.m. Sunday on the 2400 block of N. Hollywood Street in Strawberry Mansion, authorities said.
Officers who responded to the call found her on the steps of a house with a gunshot wound to her upper back. She was immediately taken in for surgery, and detectives have not had the chance to interview her.
There was no word on the victim’s condition.
At around the same time, just before 8:15 p.m., a man walked into Temple Hospital after he was shot multiple times in the back on the 2400 block of W. Hagert Street in North Philadelphia, not far from the incident on Hollywood Street.
Police did not provide the victim’s age but said he was in critical condition.
Authorities said a 32-year-old man was shot in the face just before 7 p.m. Sunday near the corner of Hope and Rockland streets in Feltonville.
He was taken to Einstein Medical Center, and his injuries are not expected to be life-threatening, according to police.
About a half-hour earlier, a man in his late 30s was shot once in the stomach on the 1200 block of N. 56th Street in West Philadelphia. He was later listed in critical condition at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center.
In Hunting Park, officers rushed a man to the hospital after he was shot twice in the stomach and twice in the ankle at around 2:20 p.m. Sunday on the 3900 block of Franklin Street, authorities said. He was also in critical condition.
At least 14 people were injured by gunfire Saturday and Sunday, and, through Sunday, the city had recorded 1,837 shooting victims, an increase of nearly 50% compared to this time last year, according to police department data.
Two men were killed as a result of the weekend’s violence, authorities said.
A 26-year-old man was shot multiple times in the chest just after 4 p.m. Saturday on the 900 block of E. Hunting Park Avenue in Juniata. He later died at Temple Hospital.
Police said a second victim, a 53-year-old man, was hit in the left arm and is in stable condition.
Officers at the scene recovered a weapon but no arrests have been made.
A 30-year-old man died after being shot multiple times in the head and back at around 3 p.m. Saturday on the 100 block of E. Duval Street in East Germantown, authorities said.
Investigators continue to search for a suspect.
