Shooting inside Frankford bar leaves 1 dead, 1 injured

A man was killed and another person was seriously injured Saturday night when gunfire erupted inside a bar in Frankford.

Police said a man, whose age was not available, was shot once in the head just before 10 p.m. Saturday at Quinn’s II Irish Pub on the 5100 block of Frankford Avenue, under the Market-Frankford Line. Medics declared him dead at the scene.

In addition, a 21-year-old man was shot several times, including twice in the abdomen, according to authorities. He was rushed to Temple University Hospital in critical condition.

No one was arrested in the immediate aftermath of the shooting.

Seven other people were wounded in shootings and stabbings over the weekend across the city.

On Sunday, a 63-year-old man was stabbed multiple times in his head, neck and back just before 11:45 a.m. near Salford and Market streets in West Philadelphia, police said. He was hospitalized in stable condition following the incident.

In South Philadelphia, someone stabbed a man at around 7 p.m. Saturday on the 600 block of W. Moyamensing Avenue, authorities said.

The victim, whose age was not released, suffered a wound under his armpit and was taken to Jefferson University Hospital in critical condition.

Two people were hospitalized after a stabbing just after 4:30 p.m. Saturday inside a property on the 5900 block of Erdrick Street in the Wissinoming section of Northeast Philadelphia, according to police.

Investigators said a 37-year-old woman was stabbed in the forehead, and a 54-year-old man injured his right leg. Neither suffered life-threatening injuries. Officers apprehended a suspect at the scene and found a weapon, police said.

Earlier, just before 8 a.m. Saturday, someone shot a 58-year-old man in the groin inside an apartment on the 5600 block of Ogontz Avenue in Logan, authorities said. He was taken to Einstein Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition.

A 39-year-old man is expected to survive after being shot twice in the stomach at around 4:45 a.m. Saturday on 53rd Street just north of Market Street in West Philadelphia, according to police.

In Overbrook, a 69-year-old man was stabbed in his upper back at around 3:30 a.m. Saturday inside a house on the 1000 block of N. 68th Street, investigators said. He was transported to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and is expected to physically recover.
