Shootings in Port Richmond, Logan leave 2 dead

At least two people were killed and six others were injured in violence Sunday night and early Monday in Philadelphia, authorities said.

Just after 12:15 a.m. Sunday, a 42-year-old man was shot in his back and arm on the 2400 block of Aramingo Avenue in Port Richmond, police said. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene.

In Logan, a 48-year-old man died after he was shot in his chest just before 9:45 p.m. Sunday on the 5200 block of Sydenham Street, according to investigators.

Neither man was publicly identified, and no arrests were made in the immediate aftermath of the killings.

A 44-year-old man showed up Monday morning to Nazareth Hospital with a gunshot wound to his forearm, police said. He told detectives he had been shot Sunday night between 9 and 10:30 p.m. while walking his dog on the 1200 block of Byberry Road in Somerton, according to authorities.

Someone stabbed a 61-year-old man multiple times in his groin, face and back at around 2:15 a.m. Monday on the 5400 block of Howland Street in Crescentville, investigators said. He was later listed in critical condition at Einstein Medical Center.

A 23-year-old man was being treated for nonlife-threatening injuries after he was shot in his hand at around 1:15 a.m. Sunday at Frankford Avenue and Rush Street in Kensington, according to police.

On Sunday, just after 11:15 p.m., officers responded to the 4400 block of Holden Street in West Philadelphia, where they found a 30-year-old man with stab wounds to his arm and ear, authorities said. He was transported to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and is expected to survive.

Earlier, just after 10:45 p.m., shots were fired on the 8600 block of Ditman Street in Upper Holmesburg, and a 29-year-old man was struck in the hip, investigators said. He was hospitalized in stable condition.

Not far away, on the 4700 block of Loring Street in Holmesburg, a 26-year-old woman was stabbed in the chest at around 8:30 p.m. Sunday during what police described as a dispute between neighbors.

Her injuries are not expected to be life-threatening, and authorities anticipate charging her in relation to the incident, according to police.
