Six dead in Philly over holiday weekend

The post-Thanksgiving holiday weekend ended with a body count of six across Philadelphia as of 2 a.m. Monday morning.

Marquis Mebane, 19, was killed Nov. 30 just after midnight in West Philadelphia, according to police.

Officers responded to calls of a shooting on the 6100 block of Walton Avenue at 12:15 a.m. and discovered Mebane lying in the road with gunshot wounds to his chest and head.

Mebane was transported to University of Pennsylvania Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:57 a.m.

No arrests have been made. The Homicide Unit is investigating.

Tyree Lloyd, 19, also died Nov. 30 after being stabbed in the chest, allegedly by Henry Blackson, 28, according to police.

Officers responded to reports of a stabbing on the 4000 block of Girard Avenue at 2:07 a.m. and found Lloyd lying in the road with a stab wound.

Lloyd was taken to University of Pennsylvania Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:36 a.m.

Blackson was arrested and charged with murder.

Several hours later, Christian Massey, 21, died after being shot during an attempted robbery in West Philadelphia, police said.

Officers had responded to reports of a shooting at 58th Street and Lebanon Avenue at 4:48 p.m. Saturday, where they discovered Massey suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest.

Massey told officers that he was in his rear driveway when an unknown male tried to rob him, then fired on him.

Massey was transported to University of Pennsylvania Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:36 p.m.

There have been no arrests made.

As Metro previously reported, at 12:39 a.m. Dec. 1, police responded to a call for medical help on the 2100 block of Princeton Avenue.

They discovered a dead body wrapped in a sheet and packing material lying next to a bed in the basement of a home on the 2100 block of Princeton Avenue.

The victim, Arthur Figueiredo, 36, lived at the house.

Medics pronounced Figueiredo dead at 1:41 a.m. The cause of death was blunt force trauma.

Paulo Figueiredo, 34, the victim’s brother, was arrested and charged with murder.

Several hours later, as Metro previously reported,there was a triple shooting on the 900 block of East Russell Street that left one dead.

Police responded at 10:21 p.m. to reports of a shooting.They found Luis Manuel Feliciano, 19, lying in the street with a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at 10:22 p.m.

Additional victims included an 18-year-old male was shot in both thighs and a 30-year-old female shot in the right foot, who were both transported to Temple Hospital.

No arrests have been made; the Homicide Unit is investigating.

As Metro previously reported, later that night at 2:09 a.m. Dec. 2, officers were flagged down and informed of a shooting at Palethorpe and Somerset streets.

Officers discovered two victims lying on the corner, both with gunshot wounds.

One victim, a 33 year-old-male, was shot twice in the chest. He was taken to Temple Hospital and pronounced dead at 2:29 a.m.

The second victim, a 34-year-old male, was shot twice in the right leg. He was brought to Temple Hospital and was listed in stable condition.
