Six shot Sunday, Monday in Philadelphia

Six people were injured in shootings around the city Sunday night and Monday, including a woman who was struck by gunfire during a robbery attempt in North Philadelphia.

Police said the 31-year-old woman had just gotten off the bus at around 3 a.m. on the 1000 block of W. Allegheny Avenue when two men came up to her from behind. One of them was armed with a gun, and he shot her in the right shoulder, authorities said.

She walked to the nearby Temple University Hospital, where she is in stable condition. The suspects took her cellphone, investigators said.

On Monday afternoon, just after 3 p.m., a 25-year-old man was transported to Temple University Hospital after he was shot three times — in the chest, buttocks and groin — on the 1800 block of W. Somerset Street in North Philadelphia.

His injuries are not expected to be life-threatening, according to police.

Two men are in critical condition after an apparent shootout in Overbrook.

Officers took the men, both of whom are between 25 and 30 years old, to Lankenau Medical Center after shots rang out just before 2:45 p.m. Monday on the 5700 block of W. Oxford Street.

One man was shot in the face, and the other was hit in the left side of the chest. Investigators recovered two guns, and one of the men is being treated as a prisoner and is expected to be charged.

A 24-year-old woman was sitting in her car just after 9 p.m. Sunday when she was shot twice in the right shoulder on the 100 block of N. Peach Street in West Philadelphia, authorities said.

Police said a male passenger who was also in the car. He jumped out of the vehicle and fled the scene on foot.

She drove to the 5900 block of Haverford Avenue, where officers picked her up and took her to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. She is in stable condition.

In Olney, a 32-year-old man was shot in the right knee at around 8:30 p.m. Sunday near the corner of N. Fairhill Street and W. Godfrey Avenue, police said. His injuries are not expected to be life-threatening.

Detectives are also investigating a home invasion robbery that occurred late Sunday night in North Philadelphia near Fern Rock Transportation Center.

At around 11:15 p.m., three men, including one with a gun, broke in through the rear window of a house on the 900 block of W. Champlost Avenue, police said.

They went up to a second-floor bedroom, where they held up a 56-year-old woman at gunpoint, demanding money. Investigators said the suspects fled with $4,000 in cash.

Man killed in Roosevelt Boulevard crash

A man was killed and another man was critically injured in a pair of early morning crashes Monday, authorities said.

Police said Kenya DeSean Johnson, 30, of Somerton, was driving northbound on the 400 block of W. Roosevelt Boulevard, near Olney, just before 2:30 a.m. when he lost control of the vehicle. His car hit a tree and was engulfed in flames, authorities said. Johnson died at the scene.

Earlier, just before 12:45 a.m., a 31-year-old man was driving on the 9600 block of Pine Road in Bustleton when his car hit a tree. Medics rushed him to Abington Hospital, where he is in critical condition, police said.
