Six wounded in shootings; Man stabbed in SEPTA concourse

Six people were wounded in shootings Sunday night, and a man was hospitalized after being stabbed during a robbery inside a Center City SEPTA station.

The incident occurred at around 11:45 p.m. Sunday in a SEPTA concourse on the 1100 block of Market Street, according to authorities.

A 46-year-old man was stabbed in the lower abdomen and then walked to the nearby Jefferson University Hospital. He is expected to physically recover.

Investigators said the male suspect snatched $50 in cash and a cellphone.

Police said a 36-year-old man was shot in the shoulder and lower back Sunday just before midnight on the 3700 block of Carlisle Street in the Tioga section of North Philadelphia. Officers took him to Temple University Hospital, where he was in stable condition.

Four people were hospitalized in connection with separate shootings that all occurred in the span of about 30 minutes Sunday night.

Just before 10:45 p.m., a 26-year-old man was shot in the right arm on the 700 block of Mayfair Street in the Lower Northeast, police said. He was later listed in stable condition at Einstein Medical Center.

Minutes earlier, in Harrowgate, someone shot a 26-year-old man in the abdomen on the 3500 block of Kensington Avenue. His injuries are not expected to be life-threatening.

At around 10:30 p.m., a 20-year-old woman was shot in the neck on the 3700 block of N. 7th Street in Hunting Park, authorities said. She was taken to Temple University Hospital and is expected to survive.

Police said a 28-year-old man was shot several times in the stomach and arm just before 10:15 p.m. on the 2200 block of S. 62nd Street in Southwest Philadelphia. He was rushed to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was in stable condition following the shooting.

Officers apprehended a man and recovered a gun after shots were fired at around 7:45 p.m. Sunday on the 1800 block of S. 11th Street in South Philadelphia’s East Passyunk neighborhood. The victim, a 36-year-old man, was struck in the pelvis area and taken to Jefferson University Hospital in critical condition.

Thomas Lauer, 51, who lives on the block, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, possession of an instrument of crime, reckless endangerment and simple assault, police said.

Earlier in the day, at around 3:30 p.m., 40-year-old Aaron Ravenell was shot multiple times throughout his body on the 5000 block of N. 8th Street in Olney, investigators said. He died a short time later at Einstein Medical Center.

No one has been arrested in connection to the case.

Man killed in Kensington hit-and-run

A driver fled the scene after fatally striking a pedestrian — dragging him a half-block up the street — early Monday morning in Kensington, authorities said.

Jamal Willie Jackson, 31, who lived in Grays Ferry, was hit at around 12:15 a.m. on the 600 block of E. Allegheny Avenue, police said. The car, described as possibly a white Honda, dragged him toward Hilton Street, according to investigators.

Jackson succumbed to his injuries at Jefferson University Hospital just after 12:30 a.m.
