Sixers Co-Owner Michael Rubin Supports Kendall Jenner And Ben Simmons’ Bond

Ben Simmons and Kendall Jenner

Philadelphia 76ers co-owner Michael Rubin is fully supportive of rising star Ben Simmons’ romantic activities with starlet Kendall Jenner. Sixers fans infamously started an online petition in November 2018 attempting to ban Kendall Jenner from Sixers home games.

When asked if in a TMZ interview if he believes Jenner dating Simmons is a problem for the Sixers as a as a team, Rubin did not think twice about his response. “13-2 since they’ve been dating,” Rubin quickly said, pointing to the Sixers’ record in the time that Jenner and Simmons have been dating.

Sports fans have long believed that dating members of the Kardashian-Jenner family can have negative effects on their favorite players, giving way to what many consider the “Kardashian curse.”

A first time NBA All-Star selection in the middle of a success sophomore campaign, Simmons is only the most recent NBA player to be attached to a member of the Kardashian-Jenner family.

Jenner’s sister Khloe Kardashian has dated former NBA player Lamar Odom, All-NBA guard James Harden and is now connected to forward Tristan Thompson. While it may be coincidental, each of the three players’ careers suffered in some way or another after they dated Khloe: Odom was eventually out of the league, Harden did poorly in the playoffs and Thompson now plays for the worst team in the NBA.

One of Jenner’s other sisters Kim Kardashian famously dated and briefly married Kris Humphries, a journeyman in the NBA whose career never saw him become more than a starter.

Rubin’s praise for Jenner comes at a pivotal time for the Sixers. Center Joel Embiid and Simmons are finally both All-Stars, forming a foundation for years to come that many observers believe can compete for throne of the best team in the Eastern Conference. Keeping Embiid and Simmons happy is a top priority for the young Sixers, who are currently fifth in the East and just made a blockbuster trade with the Los Angeles Clippers around star forward Tobias Harris.
