Allen Iverson is sticking around for the rest of the season. The Sixers guaranteed his pro-rated $1.3 million contract yesterday, according to general manager Ed Stefanski.
All NBA contracts become fully guaranteed if the player is still on the roster on Jan. 10. Iverson’s good behavior gave him the benefit of the doubt.
“Since his arrival, Allen has done everything asked of him and has been an excellent teammate,” Stefanski said in a statement.
Iverson said he hadn’t been thinking about it, and didn’t even find out until yesterday morning.
“I hadn’t been having fun in a long time and I’m back to feeling good about playing basketball and coming in and coming to work,” he said.
Iverson is averaging 15.7 points and 4.7 assists since returning to the Sixers on Dec. 3. He is also shooting a career-high 46.5 percent from the floor.
