The Philadelphia 76ers have had a disappointing year, to say the least. But for Sixers fans, there is a silver lining.

Tickets are now available for $1.

In two upper-level sections, tickets now cost a buck. To put that into perspective, parking prices range from $15 to $50, depending on your lot or location. The many food and beverage establishments within the Center are all priced out over the cost of your ticket, spending more than $8 on a soda alone, nearly $15 for chicken fingers and fries, and that’s only from the generic shops. Heck, at your seat, cotton candy is $8; that’s eight tickets, not including fees.

Losing streak

This season has gone anything but as planned for the Philadelphia 76ers. Coming into the season with championship aspirations after signing top free agent Paul George, the Sixers’ season quickly unraveled before it even began due to an alarming amount of injuries, none more impactful than the condition of former MVP Joel Embiid’s knee, which has officially cost him the rest of the season, if not more.

Philadelphia has seen their championship aspirations and their playoff hopes quickly fall by the wayside as losses continue to pile up. The Sixers have won just one of their last 11 games, have won just 21 games to 39 losses, and will face the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Boston Celtics in their next two games.

The organization has publicly focused on the team being only two and a half games out of the tenth seed, which would place them in the Play-In tournament, giving them an opportunity to make the postseason. Meanwhile, the fanbase appears to be more preoccupied with the team potentially keeping their draft pick, which is currently top-six protected, and heads to the Oklahoma City Thunder if it falls out of that range.

Buckets for a buck

All of this controversy, from injuries to losing, has caused the price of tickets to Sixers games to plummet continuously to the point that it cannot possibly go any lower. On Wednesday, March 26, the Sixers will host the Washington Wizards. The Wizards are the worst team in the league record-wise, with only 11 wins this season. The Sixers, as mentioned, are not much better. In two upper-level sections, tickets now cost $1.

Suddenly, a trip to see the Sixers is much more affordable.

There may not have been much winning in Philadelphia since the Eagles’ Super Bowl victory, but the drastic fall in the price of attendance has opened up an opportunity for many in and around the city who rarely, if ever, get to see their hometown team.
