Snow is expected to fall on Saturday in the city of Brotherly love.
Although technically the meteorological winter is officially half over, in the wise words of “Game of Thrones”: “Winter is coming.”
Accumulation is possible for Saturday. According to weather.gov, Philadelphians should expect a 100 percent chance of precipitation. Snow will be likely, but it could turn into a rainy, wintery mix. Weather.gov says, “Snow likely before 1 p.m., then snow, possibly mixed with sleet between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., then rain, possibly mixed with sleet after 4 p.m. High near 40. Light and variable wind becoming south 8 to 13 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than one inch possible.”
Inquirer.com reports that this could be the largest snowstorm to hit the region since the Dec. 11 storm, which dropped only a minuscule 0.1 inches of snow.
Brad Pugh, a meteorologist at the government’s Climate Prediction Center, spoke to inquirer.com about the weather patterns and said, “Philly and a lot of the East Coast had temperatures that were 8 to 9 degrees above normal. Pugh also said a storm-and-chill-repelling ridge of high pressure has taken over the area.”
It is possible that an inch or two of snow will fall Saturday.
