A 32-year-old woman was charged with murdering her father, then burying his body with help from her boyfriend, state police said.
Kandice Dixey, of Fairfield Township, Cumberland County, along with her boyfriend, 24-year-old Norman Kacewich, allegedly buried her father in a shallow grave in a wooded area close to her father’s South Jersey home, where allegedly his body was discovered.
Her father, 61-year-old Michael Dixey, was reported missing Oct. 3, state police said.
When authorities tried to contact his daughter for questioning, they learned Kandice and Kacewich had moved to Elkton, Md.
Further investigation showed credit card charges were made after his disappearance.
The duo was arrested in Maryland on Tuesday for theft in connection with the credit card charges.
On Wednesday, authorities found Michael Dixey’s body in a wooded area near the 400 block of Clarks Pond Road. The area wasn’t far from the trailer park where Michael lived.
While authorities believe the body is that of Michael Dixey, autopsy results are pending.
Kandice Dixey was charged with first-degree murder, desecration of remains and hindering apprehension. Her bail was set at $300,000.
Kacewich was charged with helping to bury the body.
Both await an extradition hearing in a Maryland detention center.
