No news is good news. Or, in the case of Chris Pronger, some news is good news.
Pronger skated for a second straight day, taking part in prepractice drills yesterday with an assistant coach. He also stickhandled for the first time in two weeks, but didn’t take any shots. Flyers GM Paul Holmgren called Pronger a game-day decision.
Meanwhile, team captain Mike Richards was not on the ice due to a “maintenance day.” He was reportedly dealing with a head cold.
The Flyers will conclude their playoff preparations with a morning skate today, before welcoming Buffalo to town for Game 1.
“The bonus to starting on Thursday is that it’s allowed extra days for preparation and we’ll utilize that to our advantage,” said Flyers coach Peter Laviolette.
The Stanley Cup playoffs started last night, with five games getting under way.
