Brio has been known to offer a taste of Italian-inspired dining in a comfortable environment, but this spring, fresh coastal flavors are being served up — and they are a perfect addition for those observing Lent, as well as those who just love seafood.
When you head to Brio (in either Cherry Hill or Marlton), the atmosphere sets the scene of a Tuscan Villa in its decor, but the menu boasts Italian, steakhouse and Mediterranean influences. Visitors can order up a shrimp and eggplant starter, gorgonzola lamb chops and lasagna in one go, or cap off an experience with a bruschetta sampler or gnocchi cacio e pepe side. It’s meant to be an all-around versatile experience, and that includes the new limited-time seafood specials (which were timed with the meatless season).
Offerings (available at the restaurant through April 5) include a Salmon Portofino Salad, featuring flaked grilled salmon with spinach, orzo, olives, grape tomatoes, pickled red onions and feta tossed in a pesto vinaigrette ($26.99), as well as Cod Piccata, prepared pan-seared and topped with roasted grape tomatoes and capers in a lemon butter sauce, served with herb spaghetti and broccolini ($29.99).
Guests can also try the Prawn Butter Pasta, made with sautéed shrimp and spaghetti in a rich prawn butter and charred tomato sauce ($24.99), or the White Clam Pasta, which pairs littleneck clams with garlic, olive oil, white wine, lemon and a touch of Calabrian chili ($22.99). Together, the dishes offer straightforward, well-prepared takes on seafood classics, with balanced flavors and generous portions that make them an easy choice for a relaxed night out.
The best part? Each dish is paired with a suggested wine for those who want to enhance the experience, including selections like Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc, Terlato Vineyards Pinot Grigio, Iconoclast Chardonnay, and Gambino Pinot Grigio.
The specials aren’t limited to Fridays, but they are meant to showcase more options for those avoiding meat on those days. Other seafood and veggie picks on the regular menu include dishes like Sicilian shrimp spaghetti, grilled salmon fresca, calamari and lobster bisque.
To round out the meal, Brio also offers a selection of classic Italian-style desserts and handcrafted cocktails. Guests can finish dinner with tiramisu, made with espresso-soaked ladyfingers and mascarpone, a warm chocolate cake served with vanilla gelato, or a caramel mascarpone cheesecake drizzled with caramel. Behind the bar, the restaurant pairs those sweets with a wide range of cocktails, including options like a Limoncello Lemonade, a Capri Sunset Mule, or a traditional espresso martini, along with spritzes and sangrias.
