National Pierogi Day is next week, and one local eatery is turning it into a gourmet experience.
Little Walter’s is partnering up with neighboring winery Pray Tell Wines for a six-course pierogi and wine pairing dinner on Wednesday, Oct. 8.
From Chef Michael Brenfleck, Philadelphia’s renowned contemporary Polish restaurant and bar, Little Walter’s, is known for its delicious and creative dishes, including their signature Pierogi Ruskie, made with potato, farmers cheese, caramelized onion, and sour cream, which made The New York Times’ list of 26 Best Dishes in America last year.

Gab BonghiOn Wednesday, Oct. 8, diners can enjoy a specialty menu of six hand-made pierogi, including: Pierogi Chlebowe (made with sourdough pierogi bread, smalec, cultured dill butter, smoked sledzie rillet, carrot surówka, beet farmers cheese); Pierogi z Grzankami (local chicories, pickled mushrooms, buttermilk garum vinaigrette, ruskie croutons); Pierogi Leniwe (kabocha squash, bay scallops, Macedonian peppers, dried pluots, and boczek); Pierogi z Lodami (chruściki, paw paw, onion jam, potato crunch, whipped sour cream); Pierogi z Serem (perrystead dairy moonrise, kapusta, apple mostarda, and roasted peanuts); and Pierogi Uszka (bone marrow dumplings, dry-aged culotte, fermented cherry, and truffle).
The one-night-only event is priced at $125 per person and includes wine pairings courtesy of Pray Tell Wines, located in nearby Kensington. This event has limited availability with one seating at 6:30 p.m., so reservations are highly encouraged and can be made via OpenTable.
