Frankford Avenue is set to sparkle once again with the return of Fishtown Freeze. Now in its seventh year, the annual celebration will take over the streets on Saturday, Dec. 6, filling the corridor with ice sculptures, live carving demonstrations, pop-ups, and plenty of holiday cheer.
Each year, the event draws thousands to the heart of Fishtown, and 2025’s edition promises to be its most ambitious yet. More than a dozen custom-designed sculptures carved by renowned artists from Ice Sculpture Philly will line the sidewalks, and five live carving demonstrations will give visitors a front-row seat to the artistry behind the icy creations.
The day is packed with activities designed to spotlight local businesses and invite families to explore the neighborhood. Guests can enjoy outdoor food and drink specials, hop on a complimentary trolley running along Frankford Avenue from noon to 6:30 p.m., and take advantage of special promotions at Fishtown’s restaurants and bars. Santa will also make a stop at Frankford Hall, where families can snap free photos from noon to 4 p.m.
Mural City Cellars will host a Winter Wonderland Wine Garden, complete with mulled wine, a vendor market, and a live carving at 1:30 p.m. Evil Genius Beer Company will debut its over-the-top holiday pop-up bar, Ginger Jawn, featuring floor-to-ceiling décor and the return of its Santa 0.5K charity run—a “race” around the block raising funds to purchase gifts for families in need. At The International Bar, an outdoor vendor market and festive drink specials, including spiked Mexican hot chocolate, add even more warmth to the day.
The celebration continues through the weekend with the Fishtown Holiday Shopping Spree, running Saturday and Sunday. More than 25 independent retailers, boutiques, and participating neighborhood bars will offer discounts, giveaways, and seasonal treats, encouraging shoppers to support local businesses.
Both Fishtown Freeze and the Holiday Shopping Spree are free and open to the public, with food, drinks, and items available for purchase. In the case of inclement weather, all outdoor sculptures and activities will take place on Sunday, Dec. 7.
