Northern Liberties is throwing its biggest block party of the year.

On Sunday, Aug. 2,  the 16th Annual 2nd Street Festival will take over 14 blocks of the area with live music, eats, local shopping, and nonstop entertainment from noon to 10 p.m.

This year's event also commemorates America's 250th birthday, bringing together more than 250 restaurants, food trucks, artists, makers, retailers, community organizations, and entertainers along North 2nd Street from Spring Garden to Girard Avenue.

Food and drink remain at the heart of the festival, with a line-up of local spots serving everything from street food favorites to cultural cuisine and sweet treats. Festivalgoers can also explore 10 outdoor beer and cocktail gardens, browse dozens of participating Northern Liberties businesses offering specials and pop-up experiences, and discover more than 150 creatives showcasing handmade art, home goods, jewelry, apparel, and other locally made products.

“2nd Street Festival is back and bigger than ever in Northern Liberties,"  says Standard Tap owner and festival co-founder William Reed. “It is the true grand finale for a historic summer in our city with a non-stop, ten-hour celebration of local food, beer, art and music.”

Live entertainment is set for throughout the day as well, with performances on two outdoor music stages featuring an all-local lineup of bands and musicians.

Additional attractions include strolling performers, DJs, circus acts, and community activations. Families can additionally enjoy complimentary face painting, a splash zone and playground at The Piazza, children's art activities, the West Powelton Drumline, Philly Girls Jump Double Dutch demonstrations, and other interactive programming. Well-behaved dogs on leashes are also welcome.

The 2nd Street Festival is free to attend, with food and beverages available for purchase throughout the day. The event is presented by the Northern Liberties Arts & Commerce Alliance with support from the City of Philadelphia and other community partners.
