Gun violence left three people dead and seven others hospitalized over the weekend in separate incidents across Philadelphia.

An off-duty Philadelphia police officer was killed in a shooting that happened at around 2:45 a.m. Sunday on the 7200 block of Elmwood Avenue in Eastwick, authorities said. A second victim, an adult man, was also seriously injured by the gunfire, which reportedly erupted outside an after-hours lounge.

Police rushed the officer, a 29-year-old man, to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he died at around 8 a.m., according to law enforcement officials. He has not been publicly identified, though the PPD stated that he joined the department two years ago and had been assigned to the 12th Police District in Southwest Philadelphia.

No one was arrested in the immediate aftermath of the shooting, and police have not commented on what may have led to the violence.

Detectives are investigating a suspected murder-suicide that came to light Saturday afternoon in Port Richmond.

Officers were called just after 1:30 p.m. to the 2800 block of Mercer Street, where they found an adult man and an adult woman who had been shot, police said. 6abc reported that law enforcement believes a 58-year-old man killed his 21-year-old daughter before taking his own life.

Early Sunday morning, at around 2:30 a.m., a 37-year-old man arrived at Temple University Hospital in North Philadelphia with a gunshot wound to his abdomen, according to police. Details on the incident, including the location of the shooting, were not available Sunday.

Police said a 25-year-old man was shot in his left leg during a robbery that occurred at around 2:15 a.m. Sunday on the 4100 block of Germantown Avenue in Nicetown.

A group of men robbed the victim’s cousin of a $25,000 Rolex watch; during the exchange, one of the suspects who was riding a bike approached the man and pulled out a gun. The victim took out his own licensed gun “but was shot after his firearm malfunctioned,” the PPD stated in a recap of the incident. Authorities said the man was transported to Temple hospital in stable condition.

Someone shot a 24-year-old man at around 11 p.m. Saturday on the 2500 block of Ritner Street in South Philadelphia, according to law enforcement.

Officers found ballistic evidence on the street, and the victim was taken to Penn Presbyterian with a gunshot wound to his neck, officials said. He is expected to survive.

Authorities said an adult man showed up to Jefferson University Hospital with a gunshot wound at around 2 a.m. Saturday. There was no word on his condition. Investigators believe he was shot on the 900 block of S. 4th Street in Queen Village.

At around 12:30 a.m. Saturday, officers were called to the 4300 block of N. 5th Street in the Hunting Park neighborhood for a report of a shooting near a barber shop, according to law enforcement.

They found two victims inside an SUV – a 17-year-old girl who had been shot in the head and leg, and a 22-year-old man who had been struck multiple times in his upper torso, police said. Both were hospitalized with serious injuries.

Anyone with information about any of the shootings is asked to call or text the PPD’s tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477).

Through Aug. 15, 111 people had been murdered in Philadelphia this year, a decrease of 21% compared to the same date in 2025, according to police data. The number of gunshot victims is also down 34%.
