Looking for some fun and unique things to do in Philly this weekend? We’ve got you covered.

Turkey Day Tailgate

Every football season, the Turkey Day Tailgate chooses a Sunday to bring out Thanksgiving fare, fresh fun, and a few ways to give back to the community. This year, the annual event from Philly PR Girl (and presenting sponsor, The O’Hara Home Team) has chosen FDR Park for its venue, and will kick off at 8 a.m. on Oct. 26.

The early-morning event will run through noon, up until the Eagles face off against the New York Giants, but those who don’t have tickets are welcome to stay on site for a live stream of the game. For the festive fare, Dig Inn will be serving up cornbread bites with cranberry sauce and charred chicken and Di Bruno Bros. will offer their jumbo chicken wings, signature five cheese mac and cheese, and chive mashed potatoes. The menu also includes Humpty’s Dumplings' bacon egg and cheese bites, pumpkin pie, and Gobblin dumplings, Pastificios' handcrafted Gobbler sandwiches, and Taylor Chip’s oversized cookies.

This year’s Turkey Day Tailgate will also feature various tailgating games, a bar, photo opportunities, and raffle prizes. Tickets for the 2025 Turkey Day Tailgate can be purchased online via Eventbrite or at the door ($50 beforehand, $60 day of). This event is 21+ unless accompanied by an adult.

Kensington Derby & Arts Festival

2025 marks the 17th year of the highly energetic and uniquely wacky Kensington Derby and Arts Festival, and it all takes place this Saturday, Oct. 25. This go-around, East Kensington’s long-time parade and arts activation has moved to the fall season (it’s typically a spring-time event) and will also feature a brand-new kids-only ride through the mud.

The Derby boasts a cavalcade of human-powered sculptures crafted from recycled bicycles and other materials riding through various obstacles, with the grand finale of a large mud pit to finish it all off. Winners are then crowned in categories, with past submissions including Best Art, Best Costume, Best Engineering, Media Choice and Judge’s Choice.

The Festival portion, on the other hand, holds a variety of vendors and merchants selling hand-made creations, food and drink stops, and live entertainment taking over Frankford Avenue from Sergeant Street to York Street.

Celebrate Halloween early with the whole family at this all-ages event taking over the Independence Seaport Museum on Saturday (Oct. 25.) From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., there will be crafts, activities, and plenty of candy to go around for everyone. Those looking for something a little more spooky can also join ISM and Penn State Abington on board Olympia for an “Alien Invasion” from 5 to 7 p.m. Teen Ambassadors will also be on site providing some educational lessons about the waterfront, and prizes will be given out from noon to 2 p.m. Visitors are welcome to join in on the fun in costume as well.

Art in the Age x Liberty Kitchen Hoagie Martini Collab

The new sip comes from Philly’s own boutique bottle brand, Art in the Age, and Fishtown’s fan-favorite sandwich purveyors, Liberty Kitchen. Crafted using genoa salami fat-washed Art in the Age Vodka, Cinzano Vermouth, and garnished with drops of olive oil and a skewered slice of LK’s classic Italian Salumeria hoagie (comprised of Italian cured meats, house creamy balsamic dressing, mild provolone, lettuce, tomato, onion and hellish pepper relish), the “bold and briny sipper” will be available for one day only.

Locals can get their hands on the creation this Saturday (Oct. 25) from noon to 5 p.m., inside Liberty Kitchen’s dining area, or outside in the adjacent garden. The savory tipple comes out to be $13, and can be paired with any of the bites found on Liberty Kitchen’s menu, which spans different cutlet, kaiser and pizza pie specialties.
