SEPTA suspends bus, Regional Rail service due to snow

The L and B subways continue to operate in the wake of the storm.

SEPTA halted Regional Rail service and many bus routes Monday, as a major winter storm blanketed Philadelphia with more than a foot of snow.

City trolley lines, known as the T routes in SEPTA’s new Metro naming system, continue to run, and the Center City tunnel, which had been closed due to the snow, reopened Monday afternoon. The G trolley, also referred to as Route 15, has been suspended.

Trains on the L and B, formerly the Market-Frankford and Broad Street lines, are still running, though SEPTA officials said delays and cancellations are expected.

The M, previously the Norristown High Speed Line, is only operating between 69th Street Transportation Center and Radnor Station, while the D suburban trolley routes are operating with modified service.

SEPTA posted on its website late Monday morning that bus service was in the process of being restored on a route-by-route basis. General Manager Scott Sauer said early Monday afternoon that more than 20 routes are back up and running. Go to septa.org/alerts for details about individual route numbers.

Regional Rail will remain shut down pending safety inspections, transit officials said. SEPTA Access paratransit is scheduled to resume operations at 3 p.m. Monday, according to Sauer.

Authority leaders have said that the L and B are the best bets for those who need to take public transportation in the wake of the storm.

Riders can visit septa.org/snow for updates and call 215-580-7800 with questions. SEPTA’s customer service center will stay open until 7 p.m. Monday.
