Sixers guard Tyrese Maxey named Eastern Conference Player of the Week

Posted

Philadelphia 76ers star guard Tyrese Maxey has officially been named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week for Week 11 of the NBA season.

Maxey earned the honors after leading Philadelphia to a 3-0 record from Dec. 29 to Jan. 4. In this time span, Maxey averaged an impressive 34.7  points per game at a highly efficient rate, shooting 61.2% from the field and 53.8% from beyond the arc while playing more minutes per game than anyone else in this span at 41.0.

The young guard, who is working his way into MVP consideration, also showed off his rebounding and playmaking chops in this span, dishing out 8.7 assists and snatching 6.7 rebounds a night.

This is not alien to Maxey, as it marks the fourth time he has won this award in his career and the second time this season. First in October of the 2023-2024 season, then in December of the 2024-2025 season, and finally in the second week of this current season.

After last year's season, Tyrese Maxey has been the single largest proponent of the Sixers' markedly improved performance this season. Maxey has not only transcended into a player of superstar status, but also as an undisputed leader who can put the team on his back and lead them to victory, and the league is beginning to take notice.
