Joel Embiid (right oblique strain) is making his much-anticipated return for the Sixers as they face the Chicago Bulls Tuesday night. He will join Paul George, who is returning from a 25-game suspension, in the starting lineup.
Embiid had missed 13 straight games for the Sixers since suffering the injury against the Miami Heat in a 124-117 win on Feb. 26. He was upgraded to doubtful on the team’s recent road trip but was ruled out shortly before their matchup against the Sacramento Kings and remained out for the team’s next two games.
Playing only five games since he went the entire month of January without an unscheduled absence, Embiid now has the chance to work back into basketball shape ahead of the Sixers’ presumed playoff, or at least play-in, appearance.
The Sixers are currently the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference, but trail the Atlanta Hawks by a single game for the sixth seed and the Toronto Raptors by 1.5 games for the fifth seed.
With 10 games remaining in the season, the final playoff push for the Sixers begins now.
