South Philly double shooting leaves man dead

The violence happened on the 1900 block of S. 21st Street.

A man is dead and a woman was hospitalized after shots were fired in broad daylight Sunday in South Philadelphia, police said.

The shooting happened just after noon on the 1900 block of S. 21st Street, according to authorities. Officers responding to the scene found the two adult victims and took them to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, law enforcement officials said.

Doctors pronounced the man dead just before 12:30 p.m., the PPD added. There was no information on the woman’s condition.

No one was arrested in the immediate aftermath of the shooting, and there was no word on what may have led to the violence. Anyone with information is asked to call or text the police tip line at 215-686-TIPS (2477).

Through March 21, there had been 20 homicides this year in Philadelphia, down from 46 on the same date in 2025, according to PPD data. The number of shooting victims is also down nearly 52%.
