A tow truck driver fatally struck a pedestrian and drove away Sunday night in South Philadelphia, authorities said.
The crash happened just before 9:15 p.m. at the corner of 26th Street and Penrose Avenue, according to police. Medics pronounced the man dead at the scene, law enforcement officials said.
Police have not publicly identified him, though a PPD commander told television crews that the victim may have been homeless.
Investigators said the vehicle, a black tow truck, was last spotted heading west on Penrose. Anyone with information is asked to call or text the police tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
