Veterans and active-duty service members are required to present a military ID or proof of veteran status to take advantage of these offers, and businesses are encouraging customers to call ahead to confirm participation.
Veterans Day is Tuesday, Nov. 11, and many restaurants and businesses are showing their appreciation for those who served with special deals and offers.
Here's a roundup of both local eateries and national chains offering Veterans Day specials.
Vets and their families can head to any Metro Diner location surrounding Philadelphia on Nov. 11 to enjoy 50% off their bill (applicable to active and retired military members with a valid military ID). Note, veterans can also enjoy 10% off their meal year-round at any Metro Diner as well.
This popular food truck is parking at Ridge Hall on Nov. 11 to commemorate the occasion with free meals to all veterans from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. As a release notes, this annual event is offered by owner/operator Nate Baynes, a Veteran of the Air National Guard, who was stationed in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Kuwait.
In addition to offering free food to those who served, Nate will donate a percentage of sales to Salute 2 Service, a Veteran’s charity in Bucks County. Founder and Executive Director, Rodney Wyatt (a former Marine Veteran), created the organization to provide food, clothes, healthcare, and other support to those who have served. This year is extra essential for Salute 2 Service as well — the nonprofit is currently facing eviction at the end of the year and looking for a new location to house their services.
While at Ridge Hall, locals can also head to Twisted Gingers Brewery, which will be donating a percentage of proceeds to veteran organizations. More information can be found online.
Various chain restaurants in and around Philly are offering special deals, including Applebee's (complimentary entrée from a special menu for all active duty military, veterans, reserves, and National Guard); Chili's (free meal from a select menu for veterans and active military members); Denny's (free Grand Slam breakfast for active and retired military personnel at select locations); Olive Garden (free meal from a select menu for veterans and active-duty military).
Great Clips is giving active and veteran service members a free haircut or a card for a future free cut on Tuesday, Nov. 11, and Starbucks is showing graditude to veterans with a free tall brewed coffee (hot or iced).
