Two men were killed and 12 others were injured in shootings Tuesday and Wednesday in Philadelphia.
Zamire Holloway, 18, was outside his house on the 1400 block of N. 52nd Street in West Philly when, just before 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, he was approached by two armed men, investigators said.
After a few minutes and a brief conversation, one of the men opened fire. As Holloway ran away, the second suspect shot him multiple times throughout the body, according to a preliminary investigation.
One gunman fled north on 52nd Street, and the other ran southbound, police said.
Officers rushed Holloway to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he died at around 10 p.m, authorities said. Homicide detectives continue to investigate the killing.
Meanwhile, in Fishtown, police were called to the parking lot of the Acme near 2nd Street and Girard Avenue at around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday where they found a unresponsive 24-year-old man who had been shot in the head.
Doctors at Temple University Hospital immediately performed surgery on the victim, but he was pronounced dead at 8:47 p.m., according to police.
A teenager also sustained a graze wound to his left leg. The 18-year-old man was treated at the hospital and later released, authorities said.
No arrests have been made.
Another teenager is in critical condition after he was shot in the left eye early Wednesday morning inside a home on the 1800 block of Bergen Street in the Bell’s Corner section of Northeast Philly.
Police responded to the house at around 4:30 a.m. and took the 16-year-old boy to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital. No arrests have been made, and there was no word on a possible motive.
In addition, a 17-year-old boy was shot at 3:40 p.m. Wednesday while standing outside on the 1700 block of W. Dauphin Street in North Philly, authorities said. He ran around the corner, where officers picked him up and took him to Temple Hospital.
The teenager suffered a gunshot wound to his left thigh and is currently listed in stable condition, according to police. No arrests have been made.
A couple hours earlier, at around 1:15 p.m., police responded to 2nd and Cumberland streets in Fairhill, where they found a 28-year-old man who had been shot multiple times.
He was rushed to Temple Hospital in critical condition, and police continue to investigate the shooting.
A 55-year-old man is also in critical condition after he was shot inside a corner store on Cambria and Kip streets in Kensington, police said. Officers found him on the floor behind the register at 10 p.m. with a gunshot wound to the head and rushed him to Temple Hospital.
Investigators described the shooter as a black man between the ages of 25 and 30 who was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue surgical mask and jeans with bleach spots.
Three teenagers were injured when gunfire erupted at 11:30 p.m. on the 2400 block of Edgley Street in North Philly.
A 17-year-old boy who had been shot four times in the legs and buttocks and a 19-year-old man who was shot in the thigh were transported to Temple Hospital. A third victim, who had gunshot wounds to his thigh and buttocks, arrived to the hospital in a private vehicle. All were listed in stable condition, authorities said.
Officers at the scene spotted a minivan fleeing the area. After they tried to stop the car, the driver hopped out at 22nd and Fox streets and made a run for it, police said. The 28-year-old suspect was apprehended, and officers recovered multiple weapons and drugs.
On Tuesday night, a 28-year-old man was taken to the hospital in critical condition after being shot twice in the abdomen on the 5700 block of Hadfield Street in the Kingsessing section of Southwest Philadelphia.
Two men were also shot earlier Tuesday in broad daylight.
At around 3:45 p.m., a 32-year-old man who had been shot once in the left leg on the 2400 block of Marston Street in North Philly showed up to Temple Hospital. Police said he did not cooperate with investigators.
And, in Tacony, a 30-year-old man was shot once in the left shoulder at 1:46 p.m. on the 4500 block of Wellington Street, authorities said. He showed up in a private vehicle to Jeanes Hospital and was later transported to Temple in stable condition.
Police reported no apprehensions in either shooting.
Man killed in Northeast Philly crash
A 57-year-old man was crossing Knights Road at Dorchester Road in the Far Northeast just before 8:30 p.m. Tuesday when he was hit by a man driving a Dodge Challenger, authorities said.
Police said James J. Trinacria, who lived nearby on the 100 block of Ridgefield Lane, died at the scene.
The 29-year-old driver, who was traveling northbound on Knights, remained at the scene. The crash is still being investigated, and no charges have been filed.
