If you’re looking for a cozy yet stylish hotel to stay at in West Philadelphia, The Study at University City is for you. Open since early this year, the hotel boasts 212 guestrooms along with specialized suites.

Located at the corner of 33rd and Chestnut Streets (between the University of Pennsylvania campus and Drexel University), this is the second Study location by owner and developer Hospitality 3, with the original location being on the campus of Yale University.

Don’t think that the two locations are exactly alike, however. The Study at University City has a distinctly Philadelphia feel, featuring local creatives in the hotel’s design.

Lead architect during construction was the Philadelphia-based firm DIGSAU, who partnered with Hospitality 3 on the project.

Local surface and architectural workshop SAAW designed the elegantly modern wall surrounding the hotel’s front desk.

As a contrast to the many wooden elements throughout the hotel, metal works from Philadelphia-based artists at Holzman Iron Studio have been incorporated into the design.

Ascending up the main stairwell, you’ll also notice a lustrous light display by Philadelphia’s own John Pomp Studios.

Finally, artwork by Italian painter, Carlo Trevisan, was purchased from local art gallery Carré d’artistes, located on 13th and Sansom.
