A Florida man pleaded guilty in federal court in Philadelphia to running an interstate prostitution ring that sent women to Virginia, North Carolina, Maryland and the Best Western Hotel in King of Prussia.
In a nearly 30-page indictment against Khasim Stephenson, 40, prosecutors detail Stephenson’s lengthy business network, which involved advertising on websites, directing prostitutes where to work, and how to deposit money into his bank account.
Prosecutors say Stephenson used cash the women earned to buy several luxury vehicles, including an $81,450 BMW s600 and a $170,000 Lamborghini Gallardo.
Stephenson has a lengthy, and at times colorful criminal history.
At the time of his arrest in 2014, Stephenson was on probation for shooting at police officers with fireworks. Police in Stephenson’s hometown of Orlando, Florida say that in the early morning hours of July 5, 2012, they tried to arrest a man for lighting fireworks in a bar parking lot. While that man was in custody, Stephenson shot at three bicycle officers with more fireworks. He pleaded no contest to aggravated assault in that case.
